The good: I got chaatchos from here during Sunday's Smorgasburg. This was so different, interesting and fun. The combination of Indian and Mexican cuisine go really well together. The presentation of the dish was pretty because of the brightly colored pickled onion. My dish was made quickly and packed a lot of flavor. The girl working the stand was friendly. The nachos had Jeera rotisserie pulled chicken, para crisps, Mayocoba beans, GG Sauce, Ambli Molasses, crema, roasted peanuts, lime spiced coconut, and mint. It was texturally great. The bad: It's almost too saucy. I think you can get flavor fatigue from how much flavor it packs. The interesting: They sell gift cards online and offer catering. I think this would be an awesome catering option to really wow your guests and to introduce them to something flavorful and new.

Saucy Chick wasn't really on my radar at first. I was searching for someplace to pick up breakfast after a walk. Upon reading reviews and the concept I decided to check it out. Because I first visited on a Sunday before 10a, the only menu items were breakfast burritos and chilequiles. The regular menu items are not available until 11. No problem, the burritos sounded good so I got the asada burrito and the paneer burrito (yes, I was hungry). Both burritos were made fresh so it took a few minutes to prepare. Asada burrito (4/5) was full of well seasoned meat, potatoes, egg, and beans. Very satisfying and quite substantial. Paneer burrito (4/5) delicious! I actually think I preferred this burrito over the asada. I was also able to visit another weekend for lunch. We had the following: Ambli smoked chicken (4/5) flavorful, tender, perfectly cooked. Especially with the tamarind sauce poured all over. Cauliflower side (3/5) this was ok but just not as flavorful Cucumber side (4/5) unexpectedly interesting and flavorful Birria bowl (4/5) I really liked this dish! It was super flavorful and came with rice and beans. Overall, the food at Saucy Chick is very tasty. I still want to try more of the sides and the other roasted chicken dish. Prices are kind of high but I think given the quality and overall flavor, I think it's justified. Service is also excellent! Both visits I was warmly greeted and felt welcomed. The only negative is that the outdoor seats are kind of gross. We wiped our table down and came up with dead bugs and it seemed sticky/grimy. Also lots and lots of flies outside made enjoyment of our meal less so. Parking is ample, free, and shared with other adjacent businesses. Overall I really like this restaurant! I hope they continue to do well! LOCATION: 4/5 FOOD: 4/5 SERVICE: 5/5 VALUE: 4/5 AMBIANCE: 3/5 PET FRIENDLY: yes (outdoor seating) CLEANLINESS: 2/5 PARKING: 5/5

Went here for the second time and enjoyed it again! My mom has the pibil bowl and I had the cauliflower bowl. The flavors are unique and it's a creative cuisine combination. The corn is a MUST - it's delicious!!! The bowls are fresh and feel healthy! They are balanced well (not just a bowl full of rice) and the sauces are great, too! Highly recommend for take out or a casual dine in. Rhea is great - she checked in on all the diners and was genuinely warm and welcoming. I'll be back!

Mexican Indian fusion? It's great! You can get dishes that are primarily only one of each cuisine, but you can also get fusion dishes which, surprisingly, pair well together because the spices overlap. We've ordered the jeera burrito several times and enjoyed it, the pibil nachos and 1/2 pibil chicken. One of the standout dishes is a humble side dish, Mama's beans, which are refried beans blended with chorizo and cheese. These are the best beans in the whole world because they are so savory and addictive. We always order extra, dip chips into them, and overall savor them. Their homemade salsas are also bomb.

Really enjoyed dinner at saucy chick goat mafia! Indian and Mexican food is really a fantastic combination. We felt super welcomed the minute we walked in and the person taking our order was super friendly and helpful! I really enjoyed my pibil bowl and the corn was awesome! I also really liked the beans. Also really enjoyed the papas con chorizo side - the small was a perfect lil bite of potatoes! Felt like everything was flavorful and interesting without being overly salty. There's only a couple of seats indoors - most of the seating is outdoors, but there's several tables. Pretty casual dining situation. Excited to have this place in the rotation and to try more of their items!!

I like the story behind this Mexican and Indian taqueria. The Goat Mafia and Saucy Chick Rotisserie had regular pop-ups at Smorgasburg DTLA and now they have joined forces at this brick and mortar. 3-Taco Plate: This sampler is a good place to get your bearings on everything they have to offer. - Jeera Rotisserie: The Indian-style chicken is marinated in ginger, garlic, cumin, and caramelized onions. The flour tortilla holds chicken and beans together along with crema, a green spiced sauce, mint leaves, pink pickled onions, and crispy chickpea noodles. - Birria: The long-simmered Jalisco-style goat birria is juicy with an incredibly tender texture. It's like a mini pot roast with zing. The flavor of the the abundant broth is flavorful and complex from all the spices. This taco requires a thick corn tortilla coated with melted cheese to withstand all the juices. - Pibil Rotisserie: The pollo pibil has chicken marinated in achiote, garlic, citrus, and oregano. It is topped with lime pickled onions, queso fresco, and cilantro. The flour tortilla has spent extra time on the griddle making it extra crispy. Dining Area: There are a few seats inside. In the patio, there are about four tables. Ordering: Place your order at the cash register and they'll your food when it's ready. Parking: This strip mall has a medium sized lot.

My friend and I first tried Saucy Chick at DTLA Smorgasburg. We enjoyed it so much we decided to make the trek out to Pasadena to try more items. Unfortunately traffic was not on my side (thanks LA) so by the time I arrived I was very hungry. The menu was robust but we both opted for the 3 tacos plate ($14) and a side. There was an interesting drink rose drink on the menu but they were out of it. My friend chose: Jeera Rotisserie, Birria, Charred Haldi Cauliflower with a medium Kachumber Salad ($5). I ordered: Pibil Rotisserie, Jeera Rotisserie, Birria with a medium Moms Beans ($5) The tacos were great. Strong flavor, well cooked meat, with a nice balance of textures. The Pibil Rotisserie taco was actually a hard shell taco layered with Mom's Beans, GG Sauce, lime pickled onions, queso fresco. This felt the most Mexican in flavor and texture. The Jeera Rotisserie taco was a called back to the flavors we tried at Smorgasburg with Jeera rotisserie chicken, GG Sauce, mayocoba beans, lime pickled onions, mint. A large taco and very filling. Finally, the Birria goat taco was messy but very flavorful. The staff was very friendly and helpful. The restaurant was small with little indoor seating but a couple tables outside. I wish they were a bit closer but I would definitely suggest going if your near by.

We got here on a Saturday around 7:30pm (they close at 8!) and got the pibil rotisserie chicken bowl and the pibil burrito. The portion is big and they definitely don't skimp on the chicken! The pibil chicken is hand pulled and very very tender - the curry has just the right amount of spice and I love the corn and radish since they introduced an additional layer of texture (crunchiness) to the dish! We absolutely enjoyed it! Would definitely want to come back to try the jeera chicken since they sold out that day! There are a couple seats inside and they also have outdoor tables! The owner was super nice as well! Come and give this Mexican and Indian fusion place a try - you won't regret it!

I can't take it anymore! After all of the outstanding Yelp! reviews and rave summaries in the Los Angeles Times, LA Magazine and EaterLA, I finally made the trek to Saucy Chick Goat Mafia and, wow, did it live up to the hype. Saucy Chick Goat Mafia was created with the vision of creating an experience that brought together the hospitality and dynamic flavors from both Mexican and Indian cultures. This infusion sets the stage for something magical - full of flavor, depth and heart from good ol' homemade comfort food. Upon arrival, I was immediately greeted by some amazing aromas from the open kitchen as well as by the warm friendliness of one of the owners, Marcel, who welcomed me, asked me how I heard about them and then decided to answer a few of my questions about the menu. After careful consideration, I decided to go with the 3-Taco Plate ($14): Pibil Rotisserie, Birria Queso and Charred Haldi Cauliflower. Of course, I had to go with the fresh, hand-pressed corn tortillas with each. The intimate space has a few barstools with counter space inside along with 4 picnic-style tables under a shaded patio outside. Plenty of parking in the shared retail lot. The tacos, served up piping hot and fresh, immediately hit my eye with the incredible variety of colors. Each taco, unique and different, perfectly summed up the Indian-Mexican fusion concept on one plate. First up, the hand-pulled Pibil. Amazing! The chicken was slow-cooked and very tender, perfectly balanced savory and sweet with the lime pickled onions, queso fresco, garlicky sauce. The Cauliflower Taco was out of this world. Warm turmeric-roasted cauliflower, pistachio dust, beans, fresh torn mint, and herbaceous sauce. The Birria Queso is out of this world. 100+ year old family tradition, hailing from Jalisco, this incredibly juicy birria is some of the best I have ever had. I could eat about three more of these. SCGM is an incredibly unique fusion food adventure. The reviews match my experience. I am looking forward to trying more items on the menu, and sharing the Saucy Chick Goat Mafia name to others looking for outstanding flavor profiles, friendly service, affordable prices, killer tacos, and just good ol' fashioned homemade deliciousness. Amazing indeed!
